Expected DA (Dearness Allowance) for Central Government Employees from Jan 2010 - 35%

Expectations arise for rise in DA(Dearness Allowance) to 8% for Central Government Employees

Calculation based on All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100

For all the Central Government Employees there would be a rise in DA (Dearness Allowance) to 8%,which would result in the overall rise to 35% from 1.1.2010.

HOW TO CALCULATE DEARNESS ALLOWANCE...

Every month government has announced All India Consumer Price Index, according to the price of commodities. For example, for the month of October 2009,government has published in PIB Website as given below...

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of October, 2009 increased by 2 points and stood at 165 (one hundred and sixtyfive).

With effect from 01.01.2006, Dearness allowance is granted to compensate the price increase above 536 points Base Year 1982=100),(115.763 points Base Year 2001=100).

Calculate the total of twelve month average price index

Calculate the twelve month average price index

Minus with 115.76

Calculate the percentage diffrence (multiple with 100 / 115.76)

Taken in whole number only (fraction ignored)

Is it 8% is practical index as per inflation exist in market

Amarnath Sharma, Sr. DAO said...

No great news, first dearness rises then DA increases on the basis of last 12 months' index, it means we have been getting less DA for the last 12 months viz-a-viz price rise.

Anonymous said...

Is this will be sufficient keeping in mind inflation in market?

DN Paladugu said...

Thanks for early expectation of DA increase but it will be better if the Govt. control the prices of essential commodities instead of rising DA and again deducting the income tax. The former will benefit the entire public instead of employees alone.

G V ramana said...

Its a good news. But the prices of all commidities and even onions and potatoes are very high. Govt should take measures to control the prices. What about a common man in the society?

A GREAT NEWS TO THE CENT.GOVT. EMPLOYEES. IT IS NOT SO SURPRISING AS THE COMMODITIES HAVE GONE UP TO THE EXENT OF DOUBLE COMPARED TO THE DA ORDERS ISSUED. HENCE, IT WOULD BE A MIXED HAPPINESS. THANKS TO THE PREDICTION AND HOPE SO WE WILL GET NOT LESS THAN 8% DA FROM JAN 2010. RAMESH STENO TO SPOS, TIURPATI

It is great news for Govt. Servants but what about other people who works in private sector or labour class. Govt. should ensure that the prices of essential commodities must be controlled and Govt should try to maintain the price level of last Year. This will be realy happiness for all Indian.

Ravi Rengarajan said...

This is not a good news. The Central Govt. employees is the only category which calcuated the pension, DA at the time of joining the employment and feel happy about the same. Moreover, the DA will never offset the price rise.It is peanut when compared to the bank employees etc. Now the govt should seriously think to delink the DA from the INCOME TAX.

Dear Girish, u are eligible for entry level pay in PB-2 i.e. 17140 with grade pay Rs.4600/- as per 6th CPC and CGDA clarification.

Mr. Girish, first you ask for a speaking order in respect of pay fixed. Then under RTI, you can get clarification from Dept. of Expenditure (Implementation cell). Based on the reply, you can very well go back to the authorities for correct fixation.

good news? ok let it be. yes, DA is commensurate with the sky-rocketing price hike. but grant of DA every six months will not solve the problem. Let us always remeber more than 80% on Indians are going to bed empty-stomach. minimum quality rice is about 35rupees per kg nowadays. indeed the govt should take necesary steps to curtail black market. the immediate need is to ban futuristic market, which is the real cause of price rise, nowadays. but our PM, FM and all so-called intellectuals are burning their candles only to please the Bombay Stock Market Rajas!

May be it's a very good news for the Central Govt. employees but what will be after effect on the market price especially for the poorer section preferably the daily wages earners. We the central govt. employees thinks it a very good news but for all the Indian citizen (INDIA) it is very very bad news. Govt. should think over it to control the market price and for which govt. exchequer may not spend for payment of D.A. to its employees.

A. K. DASGHOSH said...

Increase of % of DA may be a good news for Govt. employees but for common people especially for the daily earners it is a curse. They always cursed the govt. employees whenever DA / Pay increases. So I think it's the right time for the Govt. to take a stern step to control the market price especially for 14 essential commodities rather than taking the burden of increase on the govt. exchequer by increasing DA / Pay. People of India called us the Govt. employees rightly as the "PARASITES" of the society. We should think over it.

Really a great news ? We feel and hope that DA will touch the 50% mark very soon and what about the road side Indian common public. increasing price index and subsequent increase of DA is not a matter of celebration. our FM and PM should think how to take out the heat of the common tax payers instead of formulating the rules and regulations which is more beneficial to the 10% of the elite class.

Every Indian is waiting to fill their pocket. Service persons start waiting for the next DA just after they get arrier of previous DA. Think of the poor labours.we all should work for the hike of their wages and request the same to the government, not for self only. is there anyone who can compare the hike in salary of government employees and the poor labours? I m also an employee and affected by DA hike but I favour that first all should get a piece of bread and then only we can feel pleasure for the DA hike. Thanks
