May Day Celebrations Electronic Challan-Cum-Return (ECR) Initiative by EPFO Launched

                

Union Labour & Employment Minister Shri Mallikarjun Kharge today released a  quarterly news letter “SHRAM SANSAR” on the occasion of  International Labour Day here in Shram Shakti Bhwan, New Delhi. The news letter will provide extensive awareness regarding a number of good labour practices and initiatives taken by the Central as well as state governments to all concerned stakeholders on a regular basis. This newsletter is also expected to provide an effective channel of communication between the Government and the Employers/Workers organisations and promote the interest of labour. The V.V.Giri National Labour Institute, Noida has been entrusted with the task of bringing out the Newsletter on behalf of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

On this  occasion Sh. Mallikarjuna Kharge also formally launched the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) initiative introduced by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) The ECR brings various services to the doorsteps of employees and employers and introduces new levels of transparency and accessibility in the system. The new system will also substantially improve the efficiency of EPFO in delivering these services.

Reserve List of Candidates from Civil Services (Main) Exam, 2010 Released

                        

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Reserve List of candidates for Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2010. As sought by the Department of Personnel & Training, the Commission has now recommended 119 candidates which include 89 General, 26 OBC and 04 SC, to fill up the remaining posts based on the Civil Services Examination, 2010. A list of these candidates is enclosed. The candidates so recommended will be communicated directly by the DOP&T.

Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospitals

ESI Hospitals
                The Union Labour & Employment Minister Shri Mallikarjun Kharge has informed the Lok  Sabha  that the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has proposed to set up more ESIC Hospitals in the country including in Odisha. Details are Annexed.
                               
The land has been allotted by the State Government of Odisha for construction of ESI Hospitals at Angul&Duburi.  At Angul, the process for possession of land is under way. At Duburi, Jajpur, land has been acquired by the ESI Corporation for setting up a hospital.

The hospitals at Angul and Duburi would be operationalzed after the infrastructure is in place.

Employment Opportunities in MSMEs
The Government monitors the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by conduct of All India Census of the sector, periodically, in the country. As per the latest census of MSME sector (Fourth Census), conducted with reference year 2006-07, wherein data was collected till 2009 and the results published in 2011; the total number of persons employed in the sector increased to 93.09 lakh as compared to 61.63 lakh in the Third Census, conducted with reference year 2001-02.

Ministry of MSME through Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and Coir Board as Nodal Agencies, has been implementing a cluster-based scheme named “Scheme of Funds for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI)” for development of clusters in Khadi, Village Industries and Coir. Under SFURTI, which was launched during 2005-06, a total of 101 clusters (29 Khadi, 47 Village Industries and 25 Coir) have been taken up.

This information was given by the Union Cabinet Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri Virbhadra Singh in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
