1. On 23-05-2013, Government has approved Cadre Restructuring of the Department for the creation of 20,751 additional posts and for carrying out various measures to increase the effectiveness of the Department. Details of the earlier and post-restructuring sanctioned strength are at Annex. A.

Huge shortage of Residential accommodation for Lok Sabha Employees

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Urban Development (2012-13), presented the Twenty Fourth Report of the Committee on Demands for Grants (2013-14) of Ministry of Urban Development has stated in Para 7.C of Chapter 20 that the huge shortage of Residential accommodation for Lok Sabha Employees

The Committee are surprised to note that at present Lok Sabha Secretariat is having 800 residential units to cater to approximately 3,000 employees. The Lok Sabha Pool was separated from General Pool of Accommodation in the year 1974.

Sub : Implementation of Rain Water Harvesting systems in the existing Government offices and residential complexes.

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Urban Development in its report dated 17/4/2013 on Demands for Grants (2013-14) of MoUD has stated in Para 10 of Chapter 24 that the possibility of incorporating rain water harvesting system in the existing Central and state government offices and in residential areas should be explored and implemented in a time bound manner. Further, the committee desired that data base should be maintained regarding government buildings which have implemented rain water harvesting system.
