The pay commission suggestion for hike in retirement age to 62 is really admirable. As far as the life expectancy is concerned, the mental ability and physcical health of the aged persons have increased. Most of the aged are ready to work even after their retirement. That means they do not like to remain as idle. Earn something even until the health become worse. That is the attitude of the people now. The country can make use of the experience and ability of aged persons.

Thanks a lot.

Govt is closing all the doors for young generation to get govt jobs.

The old should retire and chance be given to youngs for their and country's future on a very less payment than old.
Unknown said…
This is wastage of govt.expenditure. The same salary of a person who is going to be retired is drawing can attract new three-four young generation.
Govt.should stop this because another persons r waiting for promotion last 17-18 years.
Unknown said…
Why govt.is closing the door for promotion of the existing employees and why stopping the new young people for entering the govt.job.
Unknown said…
Central govt.should not do this. This is not good for many employees.

Very bad decision. This would affect the youth, which comprises 60% of our country's population.

we are hopefull about this .

I would think just an increase of 2 years might not affect all the above challenges....all said and done a wise decision considering the fact that the amnt govt has to disburse in a year for retirement

is this really going to happen or its just a rumour again

I am a Central Govt. Employee going to be retired on 31.8.2014. I personally think the Govt. should not take such a move since it will be against the young unemployed youth of this country
Now average life span and ability of human is regularly increasing. So the decision of pay commission is welcome. We have many job now other than gov. Job. And in left politecs, leaders r not retired till death and they claim they are active. They r not vaccent the position for young people. So fresh blood are not coming to build nation. Ministers are also retired in the age of 65, because they are gov. employees. Think all of this. -RABINARA N DAS.
Last 10 years India has so much job opportunity for young, sufficient skilled workers are not available. So experience workers needed. Retirement age of lectures is now 65. Need 65 for all others govt. Workers.

Please, the retirment age should not
be 62years..Too many youths of this country waiting for employment..

This is a great news. I am really happy. This steptaken from the central govt has a lot of benifits one of which is health. If a person is asenior citizen and if he works he will be fit. Being 2 years is like sugar on the cake.thank you so much .

This is a creation of highly earned top bureaucrats to continue in service and earn more money from ensuing pay commission. This section is doing all harms to the poor Group C and Group D employees in the case of MACP etc.Govt. should not allow this on the cost of educated youth.

THE NEWS IS IN ALL PROBABILITY A RUMOUR, AS USUAL AS THE THE GOVT. IS QUITE MUM ON THIS ISSUE. THE EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATIONS APPEAR ALSO TO BE QUITE UNCONCERNED . IN THE CIRCUMSTANCES, I WOULD SUGGEST THAT GOVT. SERVANTS MAY BETTER BE NOT SWAYED BY SUCH RUMOURS AND GO INTO DEPPRESSION LATER WHEN NOTHING ACTUALLY HAPPENS. IF THE GOVT. QUARTERS GIVE A POSITIVE HINT AND THE UNION CABINET TAKES THE CALL, THEN ONLY SOMETHING MAY HAPPEN. GOODLUCK ANYWAY.

Retirement age hike is a real disappointment for those who are looking for job in public sector.

@admin ... plz post recent update on this topic.

A bad decision, instead Govt. may allow option to the employees of Group B ,Group C and Group D to choose either appointments to their dependents or receipt of Gratuity etc.Never allow Group A and above employees including secretaries to continue. These class of people are the curse and burden to the national exchequer. Their perks increased considerably during the last Pay Commission.

The matter of hiking retirement age from 60 to 62 is not justified. If govt. takes such decision the youth will be deprived of the benefit of fresh govt. job. In the age of unemployment if officers try to hike retirement age for the benefit of selves will certainly damage the image of central govt. The associations/federations should not also encourage such decisions.

govt should reduce the age to 55 in order to get opportunity to young Indians.
Anonymous said…
Dear all,

The ruling party always says that chances should be given to the younger people on one hand on the other it steps to sealing fate of millions of aspiring young employees. The people who avoid any crucial decision by saying "on the verge of retirement", they are given two more years of for making decisions pending. So for sure, if the retirement age is increased to 62, for the coming two years would be most frustrating part of service of millions of young and energetic minds and at the same time they would get sufficient guidance about how to ESCAPE.

If the Govt.proceeds in this direction and increased the retirement age it will be a Himalayan blunder like division of Andhra. The youth will become the enemies of the employees. Also this move will help only top bureaucrats to fill their pockets without much effort.Govt should realize that this elite class are the followers of the British and will diminish the image of the Govt, which is already in trouble.

why Govt not thinking to reduce the age to 55 for the young Indians,

Govt should give opportunity to young Indians instead of old 60 years people by reducing the age to 55

i am going to retire in this year end still i will say that govt should not increase the age but reduce the age to 55 in order to create job opportunity for talented ,efficient dynamic young Indians who are waiting for job instead of continuing old Buddhas like me.
INCREASING RETIREMENT AGE FROM 60 TO 62 WILL BE OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE FOR UPA GOVERNMENT AND THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT WILL BE HIGHLY BENEFITED IN ENSUING LOKSABHA POL DUE TO SUPPORT OF BENEFITTED EMPLOYEES.

The many romour in webside/newspaper for Govt incresing retirement age to 62 wef 1 March 2014,so many employees retire on 28 Feb.2014 but his date of birth is 01 Mar. Prime Minister is requested to kindly considered the case sympathitically in case of employees who are going to be retire on 28 Feb so that he can not loose the benefits given by the Govt only for one day.

Very nice and fantastic decision made by the UPA Gov. After the retirement senior citizen remain idle with grate work experience and other side they spoil their health as well.
However new blood are concern there are many golden opportunity given by the government they should grab the opportunity rather than blaming to senior citizen retirement issue.
After the retirement many people able to do the job and few of them are doing so. They are not able to take the opportunity as the younger people could do. This is useless sign for the youngster is not able to get the job…and those who are saying younger are not able to get the job they don’t have sense.
Its good but also think about the news Born babies....

Please also consider persons retiring on 28.02.2014. A day before will make a great change in their life. Hoping for the best. Eagerly waiting.

its wonderful and appreciable step of the govt. this will not only boost up the morale of the govt. employee, but in conformity of the scenario prevailing in developed and developing countries of the world. many states govt. employee also have 62n as retirement age. today life expectancy has increased, medical facilities have increased, people till 70 are in working condition. besides this the old experience will prove assets to the govt.

If govt. is thinking to hike the retirement age upto 62 years, it would be blunder to the upcoming generation and also will also become totally against the Congress party. Please drop the idea.

If retirement age is increase at this stage, the same will prove disastrous for the sitting govt. It will annoy youth power of vibrant India. Wake up.

very bad decision

I am not in favour of this discussion. Our promotion will be affected.

Age does not remain static for anyone. A youngster today is a oldie tomorrow. Any benefit given to old people will come to him too in due course of time. Why resist it now. An youngster today will live longer than those who were born decades ago and will undergo more frustration to retire from active work life at 60 years. After all, whatever extra earning an old person can make will get passed on to their children only. So why resentment?. Further, if a youngster's father is told to retire 2 years in advance (ie at 56) to make way for many Younger & low paid youngsters ,will the children of the father digest it well and say it is good move?.

If the govt. Is really considering to hike the existing retirment age of C.G. employee from 60 to 62 then I think it wouldn't damage the future of educated youths but I propose that the entry age of educated youths in govt jobs to be increased so that it would satsfied both who are in verge of retirement from his/her job and new aspirants who are in search of govt jobs.

This is not at all a good decision for our younger generation. Give the way for youngster to take the world in higher level. When people become 55 year old they become ill and other problems.

Awesome decision. Now I will vote for Congress! BTW the increase of retirement age doesn't affect youth as most of them are opting to work in private sectors...

Its a great decision and certainly people have got more life span and they are active also. I fully welcome this decision by the Govt. I am eagerly waiting for the official announcement.

60-62 years will have a disastrous effect on the poll prospects. The decision should be left to the 7cpc.

HIKE IN RETIREMENT AGE IS ABSOLUTELY A SENSELESS APPROACH WHICH IS THE REFLECTION OF GREEDINESS MENTALITY OF A SECTION OF THE SOCIETY AS WELL.UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM IS IN THE PEAK IN INDIA. IT IS IRONICAL THAT ON THE ONE HAND GOVT IS INTRODUCING JOB GUARANTEE SCHEME AND ON THE OTHER HAND HIKING RETIREMENT AGE. RISING RETIREMENT AGE WAS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS FOR THE DEFEAT OF NDA IN 2004. I THINK UPA WILL NOT REPEAT THAT BLUNDER. ANY WAY IF AT ALL THE AGE IS TO BE RAISED THEN WHY CAN'T PUT A CAP ON THE TENURE OF SERVICE AS IN THE ARMED FORCES(SAY 30 YEARS OF SERVICE OR 62 YEARS WHICHEVER IS EARLIER).

Its a very wise decision from central govt. Young people can get a job in a competitive environment. i guess there are enough job opportunities in the private sector in on doesnt get a job in govt then he should not wait for someone to retire.

My vote with the central govt. !

I STRONGLY OPPOSED DECISION OF GOVERNMENT TO ENHANCEMENT AGE OF RETIREMENT WHEN MASS QUALIFIED YOUTH ARE UNEMPLOYED. IN PAYMENT OF ONE RETIREE AT LEAST FIVE YOUTH CAN BE EMPLOYED.

It is a welcome decision. many Doctors retiring are quite fit and their expertise can be used .hope it comes and not just a rumor

The decision is very good. Efficient staff are not retiring after 60. They are still capable to do work. Even in foreign countries they work in the 70s & 80s. Otherwise lot of wastage of the experienced hands...

In place of increasing retirement age, youngster would be introduce in govt job.As u know that when v.r.s. introduce in rly depmnt it would be given some selected category not for every category. Is there no family for or no children to other catgry member, yet i like to ask. my father also filled v.r. form in 2010 in hoping for a job of his children but as usual as govt thinking only(only 4 catgry run rly and other catgry is foolish one) for few catgry its lost the hope and retired this month .only this thinking drowned the ship of upa.if they take good decesion it would not happen IF U LIKE TO GET VOTE OF GOVT PERSON .OME DECESION LIKE
1--V.R.S GIVEN ALL CATGRY FROM 2010(WHETHER EMP RETRED OR NOT)
2--NOT HIKE AGE RELX
3--RIGHT DECESION A RIGHT TIME
