BSNL cuts down broadband rental discounts to Central Government employees by 50%

BSNL had reduced the discount offered to state and Central Government employees on its broadband facilities from 20% to 10%. It has further been reduced to 5% from October 1 onwards.

The Government-run BSNL is currently the market leader in broadband internet services. At the time of launching the service, in order to attract customers, BSNL had offered massive discounts and special schemes. One such scheme was the 20% discount on the monthly bills for employees of the state and CG agencies, and Public Sector Undertakings, officers, and retired employees of these departments.

Subscription for BSNL broadband services soared. Such discounts soon made BSNL the market leader in cable-based internet services, despite the presence of some big private players. Meanwhile, two years ago, BSNL reduced the discounts from 20 percent to ten percent. Although the cash crunch in BSNL was blamed for the move, some accused that the decision was made under pressure from private companies to decrease BSNL’s popularity.

BSNL cuts down broadband rental discounts to Central Government employees and Central Government Pensioners by 50% is not fair. The employees can somehow manage since they are in service and getting handful of salaries. Where as the pensioners are getting low amount of pension after recovery of their commuted amount. Before passing such orders the ministry should have think properly about the issue. As a matter of fact about 90% of the pensioners are Senior Citizens. When so many schemes are implemented in favor of SC/ST and Farmers etc. Why Senior Citizens are neglected before cutting such discounts I could not understand.
There fore I on behalf of all the Senior Citizens of my country The Bharat Mata and the Bharat Pensioner Samaj humbly and most respectfully request the the higher authorities as well as the Ministry of BSNL to kindly look in to the matter and arrange to hike the rate of discount from10 to 20% without any hesitation in the interest of paying compliments to Senior Citizens/ CG Pensioners and pass the orders as early as possible.

If BSNL gave the service like pvt. Operators than its OK. But the problem is their service which is so bad ican't explain. I m a existing customer (from last 2yrs.) or call me sufferer. So i think IF BSNL want to maintain their position, they must improved their customer care services first.
